Bastille Day 2017…

leave a comment »

Today is Bastille Day in France.   I remark on it;ate in the day,  but I would not mention it except that American soldiers  led the parade  in Paris.  Some of them were dressed in World War I uniforms for the walk past the French and American presidents and their wives.

The French government traditionally invites a country of honor to lead the parade,  which is linked to a historical event and highlights a symbolic gesture of  friendship.   The U.S. was selected for the first time,  and our troops appearance is in commemoration of the U.S. entry into WWI.
