Everglades Python Challenge…

leave a comment »

For those of you not acquainted with Florida’s effort to rid itself of the alien Burmese  python population  which is decimating natural wildlife in the state,  the 60-day open season on these slithery varmints is underway and meeting with  success thus far.

By the way, this state-managed and partially state-funded program to eradicate the predators is far more likely to be useful and productive than any purely government-run enterprise.   Besides,  people who enjoy hunting like hunting and many of them will cheerfully hunt whatever is in season.  I expect there are a few in Florida who normally make their living killing the wild boar which are on the rampage in Texas and wanted a change of scenery.
