Medicine by drone…

In Montana,  an eradication program of prairie dogs was successful,  but removed a mainstay of the black-footed ferret’s normal diet.   Then a plague hit,  and the ferrets,  already under-nourished, were in real trouble.   The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service  is firing  peanut-butter pellets from drones into the forests of Montana,  both to provide nutrition and to ward off disease,  thanks to a vaccine contained in the pellets.   Let’s hope the effort saves the creatures from extinction.
