Sears homes…

From 1908 to 1940,  Sears sold  between 70,000 to 75,000 homes,   most in the Northeast and Midwest,  with the largest grouping being in Elgin,  Illinois,   where one community has more than 200 verified Sears homes. Sears lost most of the sales records,  but there are other ways to determine if you live in one of these custom jewels,  built with then-new techniques and top-quality materials.

I am fortunate enough to have visited one,  which had been extremely well maintained,  as well as updated a few times,  and I can see why the Sears homes were so popular.   How sad that the company has fallen on such hard times nowadays.
