Taxing disconnect…

This view of Texas  points out  something which liberals and progressives seem incapable of understanding  — if you vote for a slew of goodies,  you will have to pay for them.  In Texas,  that means property owners pay the bill,  and property taxes are going up like rockets.  I have long held the opinion that those who vote for endless feel-good community programs should be billed for them.   Perhaps that would assist them in making the connection which seems to elude them.

This sad story keeps repeating itself all over the country.   Some years ago in Florida,  a city’s council members kept voting to increase property taxes and fees,  and in a few years found that they couldn’t afford to live there any longer.  It served them right,  of course,  but politicians should be hit with the consequences of their votes much more often and much more quickly.   They should be made to feel acutely the pain and suffering they so willingly inflict on the rest of us.

UPDATE:  I had forgotten such a feat of stupidity was called the Butterfield Effect.   Read why  here.
