State Department lies…

leave a comment »

The Obama Administration is so hip,  so cool,  so technologically proficient.   But it can’t Google Hani Nour Eldin and find out that,  in addition to being a newly elected member of the Egyptian parliament,  is also  a member of the Gamaa Islamiya, or the Egyptian Islamic Group?   The group’s  spiritual leader,  Omar Abdel Rahman,  aka the “blind sheik”,  was convicted in 1995 of plotting attacks on New York City landmarks and transportation centers,  and is serving a life sentence in a North Carolina federal prison.

The group has been designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization,  meaning that it should not have been possible for Eldin to obtain a U.S. visa.   Even more interesting is that the State Department  claims that Eldin was  invited by the Wilson Center as part of the Egyptian parliamentary delegation.   However,  the Wilson Center says the State Department selected the delegation,  and it was merely one of the places the delegation visited.   That certainly suggests that State knew who and what Eldin was,  and sought to conceal that knowledge.

Andrew McCarthy picks up on  the visa point  and much more.

ObamaCare decisions…

leave a comment »

The New York Times actually  has an interesting piece  on how ObamaCare ended up at the Supreme Court,  though it can’t resist some editorial handwringing over the likely fate of the individual mandate.

The Washington Post offers  more wailing  and moaning.

I don’t think we’ll get the decision until the end of the week,  but you never know.

UPDATE:  Not until Thursday apparently.
