Childish chickens…

Remember when Democratic legislators in Texas hightailed it out of the state to avoid voting on a bill a few years ago?   Well, Dems in Wisconsin have  now pulled the same caper.   The legislature has been adjourned until Friday.

Many of the Wisconsin teachers who called in sick have invaded the state Capitol,  joined by hordes of semi-professional agitators bused in by various unions.   They have also planted protesters at the homes of Republican legislators.   Can we say “intimidation”,  boys and girls?

Why are the Dems hiding and the unions protesting?  Gov.  Scott Walker’s budget-repair includes depriving teachers of collective bargaining.  I’d be happier if the bill didn’t exclude police and firefighters,  but his proposal is modest.  Wisconsin employees there currently pay ZERO towards their pensions and next to nothing for their health-care plans.   The newly elected Republican governor is essentially asking them to pay about half of what private sector employees already do.

Unions see their power decreasing,  Democrats see campaign money evaporating and both are desperate to avoid the truth,  which is that Democratic legislators and officials broke Wisconsin by agreeing to outrageously generous  contracts for  unionized workers.

His Oneness has committed another  beer summit offense by weighing in   to characterize the proposed law as an assault on unions.  What you don’t see in the linked article is that our super-smart president prefaced his remarks by saying he hadn’t exactly followed  the Wisconsin budget.   Sound familiar?   The DNC is weighing in as well.
