Painting to the finest point…

These paintings are so finely detailed,  so exquisitely rendered,  that they look like photographs.   The attention to the tiniest details boggles my mind,  as my artistic ability is limited to craftsmanship,  meaning I can do needlepoint because the holes are already there!

Rosie the Riveter…

Geraldine Hoff  Doyle,  whose pretty face was the inspiration for the iconic World War II poster of Rosie the Riveter,  has died.  One of my favorite  “dress”  T-shirts has that famous poster reproduced on it.   Perhaps the most ironic thing is that she  was unaware of the poster until 1984.

And for the youngsters amongst you,  women took over men’s factory jobs during that war,  and driving rivets into planes and tanks and ship hulls was one of those critical jobs which suddenly became women’s work,  which is one reason I have scant sympathy for the whining,  mewling feminists of today.
