I don’t quite know what to make of  Sarah Palin’s resignation from the governorship.    I imagine the entire family is way past tired of being used as liberal punching bags,  and a quarter of a million dollars in legal bills is a crushing debt for people with modest means who believe in paying their debts.

Thomas Sowell doesn’t speculate on that,  but sets out plainly why liberals and the unprincipled old Republicans bulls react to Palin with such vitriol.    She surely isn’t one of them,  but she most certainly is one of us.

Bill Kristol goes a bit further,   and the American Thinker discusses whether this was the first national success for the left’s  Cloward-Piven strategy.

As Dr. Frank Luntz is forever showing us,  words do matter.  Unfortunately for America,  His Oneness is extremely skilled at manipulating words,  at twisting their meaning,  at parsing them out of any meaningful existence.    It is an Obama trademark, a mechanism which allows him to say he’s misunderstood,  or misinterpreted,  always leaving enough wiggle room to avoid capture.

My favorite thus far is all his campaign rhetoric about the evils of earmarks.    A majority of voters  —  God,  are you stupid – –  actually believed him,  instead of figuring out that it was rhetoric designed to blunt McCain’s stance on earmarks.

He bragged that the stimulus contained no earmarks.   According to the technical definition of “earmark”,  he was correct,  but is there anyone with 5 functioning gray cells who doesn’t realize that the entire stinker is one enormous earmark?

Now that the insane $410 budget has been revealed,  we see that his administration is full of former Congress critters who gobbled up earmarks.   As a Senator,  His Oneness himself has earmarks of $4.5 million for wood utilization,  and $3 million for shrimp aquaculture.  Of course,  his former Senate buddies are busy air-brushing his name off those particular earmarks,  to rearrange history.

The response?   Oh this is LAST YEAR’s stuff,  because Bush didn’t pass a budget,  you know.    Never mind that Pres. Bush flatly said he wouldn’t pass such a stuffed sausage,  and Pelosi and Co. decided a continuing resolution would suffice until she had someone in the White House as radical as she is.

Obama claims to be restoring science to the White House,  yet has hired Holdren and Chu,  very intelligent men who have forgotten,  if they ever knew,  that science should properly be based on actual facts,  not beliefs.    His Oneness calls for decreased dependence on “foreign oil”,  but quietly kills offshore drilling and seeks to place  even more resource-rich federal lands in no-go zones.

In short,  our President is a bald-faced liar.    And yes, this will be explored further in subsequent posts.
