Good for the brain…
Try to carve out an hour and 20 minutes to watch a symposium featuring Stephen Moore and Rep. Paul Ryan advocating that citizens should hold the authority over their health care plans and retirement dollars. It is understandable and makes sense in a way sound bytes seldom do.
Green health…
Read this and marvel at the sort of treatment you can look forward to if ObamaCare survives.
Unhealthy health care bill…
I must say I was surprised to see this, but I have to remind myself that occasionally the WaPo exhibits a sliver of good sense (h/t to Philip Klein at American Spectator).
Still, it can’t please the White House or Pelosi to have it pointed out so clearly that the House bill won’t do what it claims and will likely bankrupt the country. They weren’t that brutal, of course, but that’s the essence of the column.
Obama lied…again…
Remember all the soothing noises His Oneness made about the public option not being all that important? He lied, because he has been pushing it like mad in private.
Anyone who is surprised, please slap yourself silly and go to the back of the class. Stay there until you tune in sufficiently to realize that is Obama’s habit of long standing.
Health care deadline!
The White House has been hysterically calling the newly released insurance industry study all day, but Yuval Levin sums up the truth succinctly here.
If you have a Congress critter planning to vote for the hideous Baucus bill, or wavering, pick up the phone. Call them, the call the Finance Committee, then anyone else you have the time to and tell them a pink slip is waiting for all who choose power over the people resulting in the destruction of the best health care system in the world.
Health-care Hell…
Don’t be fooled by the hits Democrats have taken on the health care debate. I agree with the analyst who thinks they will cram through a bill, regardless of public sentiment.
The link to the Human Events article is here if you’d rather go straight to it.
If you have a Democratic Congress critter, burn up the phone line. This is not about health care, or reform. This is a power grab, pure and simple. 47% of Americans pay no income tax. Democrats have worked furiously for decades to raise that number to over 50%, figuring that the non-payers will consistently vote against those who pay. That would result in a permanent Democratic majority, not only in Congress, but in the states as well.
There are a few other options, but the best by far is to put so much pressure on the Fools on the Hill that they become afraid of we the people. Remember it was Lenin who first implemented “free universal health care.” He considered it one of his crowning achievements, which led to everything else.
Presidential logo…
There is something profoundly creepy about a president who creates his own logo, as if he were a brand to be placed on objects and ideas for commercial benefit. Somehow, attaching it to a caduceus made it even more unsettling.
Did the Obama team truly believe that placing his personal logo beneath the symbol of the practice of medicine inspired people to trust him with their health care? They must have, or they surely would not have done it.
I wonder if somebody told them — I haven’t seen it in connection with the health mess since mid-September. In fact, what brought it to mind was seeing a bumper sticker featuring the logo cracked apart. I’d like to think the president has been visited by the Founding Fathers, but I fear not.
But very young students at Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, NJ singing a “dear leader” type song literally makes my skin crawl. I don’t feel any better after reading this update from exurbanleague. The principal of the school made exculpatory statements about this just being part of Black History Month and complained that the taping of the event was “unauthorized.” He seemed very annoyed that some parents were objecting to a past event about which they had no knowledge. After all, His Oneness has to create fresh recruits for his civilian army, doesn’t he?
UPDATE: Asher Embry has a killer poem on the indoctrination piece.
UPDATE: And YouTube has been caught cooking the books to keep the video of the Obamakids off the most popular list.
Shall we debate, Mr. President?
Remember the University of Colorado student who challenged Obama to a health care debate, then asked a perfectly sensible question about government competition which brilliantly shows “reform” for what it is? I hope you saw the video at the time, because it has been removed for use violations.
You can read here how satisfied Zach Lahn was with the answer His Oneness gave, as reported by Jake Tapper of ABC, who, along with Major Garrett of FOX News, is willing to ask tough questions, making them two beams of light in a press otherwise draped in black-out curtains.
I bring it up because I wanted Zach Lahn on every show Obama did Sunday to refute the blather he memorized and regurgitated on each. No wonder he didn’t want to be interviewed by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday!
Forgetting 9/11…
A Gold Star father movingly reminds us of what so many have forgotten eight years on. He is a great deal kinder than I when it comes to politicians. I doubt more than a handful of Congressional Democrats ever believed we were at war — they merely posed as brown monkeys so they wouldn’t stand out in the jungle. They hate the military because they loathe its standards, its accountability and its grasp of realty. Such attributes are anathema to liberals, and especially to liberal politicians.
On this day, you would hope that if New York City took care of anyone, it would be the firemen and police who put their lives on the line at Ground Zero on that ghastly day. But many of those who still survive can’t get the medicines and treatments they need for their health problems. I f NYC won’t do the right thing for those heroes , what makes you think a government-run system will treat ordinary people such as you any better?
What too many people have forgotten is that we are at war with Muslim extremists. Obama regards it as a matter for the criminal justice system, and can not grasp that his attitude of appeasement and engagement signals a deadly weakness to those seeking our destruction and subjugation.
And about half of America is at war with its government, led by a man unqualified to run a candy store for profit, who seems as intent on achieving our nation’s economic collapse as the jihadists. At the moment we are in more immediate jeopardy from His Oneness than from terrorists, but Obama’s success will serve to weigh the odds in favor of our enemies.
I applaud my cousin and her husband, who have gone to DC for the, I hope, HUGE tea party rally, even though I know MSM will try to ignore it altogether. I am proud of every patriot who writes a letter, calls a congress critter and commits other acts of patriotism. And I am ever grateful for those who serve in our armed forces – they are men and women to be admired and looked up to, not witless children to be pitied and patronized.
The question now is, WHERE DO YOU STAND?
Health reform answers…
Over at The Corner, Victor Davis Hanson lays out four simple questions on health care reform, and I think correctly posits that whichever party can best answer them will win the day.
I don’t expect His Oneness to actually answer ANY questions in his speech to Congress, much less any of these.
John Stossel wishes Obama would give this speech. I think it’s quite safe to safe His Oneness will do no such thing.
Thomas Sowell offers tips on listening to a liar.
